John Elder Robison: Looking Forward at the Autism Spectrum

I'm still working on a blog containing my thoughts on this article. It should be finished in the next day or so. Tonight, I thought I would post the link to John Elder Robison's latest blog post.

Understandably, many folks are divided on the issue that's up for discussion.

Whatever your feelings, the post is definitely worth a read. I'll be adding my two cents shortly!

2012

I can hardly believe that it's 2012 already; 2011 sure went by fast!

Do you believe in making resolutions? I don't; it seems trite, and to be honest I've noticed that most resolutions tend to fizzle out quickly.

Still, I do "get" the whole concept- it's a new year, so why not set some goals for yourself? I like to set a few goals for myself each year. Then, at the end of the year, I'll look back and see what I've accomplished. With that in mind, these are my goals for 2012:

1. Build up an emergency savings fund.
2. Invest in more stocks/diversify my portfolio.
3. Spend more time traveling
4. Work out more frequently (it's a great stress relief)
5. Maintain an optimistic attitude, come what may
6. Continue to deepen my relationship with Anne
7. Spend more time with my family
8. Be more patient with my dad
9. Write more
10. Be on time for work

I feel confident in my ability to meet (and possibly exceed) all of these goals. I'm already doing well with many of them. Here's to 2012, and all the good things it will undoubtedly bring!

Iowa Woman Speaks in Favor of Gay Marriage

I happened to watch this video a few nights ago with my girlfriend. Wow! It really makes me happy to see older folks in support of gay marriage. It's plain to see that she loves her son and supports his family.

Do you think we'll ever see the legalization of gay marriage? I feel that it will happen at some point in my life. I really want it to happen, because I want to be able to share that with my partner. I also want to legally protect our family without having to file a lot of lame paperwork and jump through flaming hoops. No pun intended.

My girl's in Ogden for the week, visiting with her family. I'm holding down the fort- working hard or hardly working, whichever. Tonight I slacked off and played video games, mostly... but I cleaned the bathroom and organized a few things, so I think we can say that I was productive enough. I also worked my ass off at my office job, but that goes without saying.

Guess I should get some sleep; tomorrow is another (work) day.

Is it Friday yet?

GloZell: Don't Leave Your Dog With My Mother

Okay, I swear that I'll post some actual entries soon, but this was too good not to share. Her videos are hilarious. She reminds me of random people I talked to in NOLA. In retrospect, that probably explains a lot...
